A beautiful green space crisscrossed by pathways and lined by large, leafy trees, the New Haven Green plays a vital role in the town's history. Designated as a National Historic District, the green was first laid out in the mid-1600s by Puritan settlers and used to house many public buildings as well as act as a gathering space. Surrounded by numerous historical buildings such as the United Church, the Center Church and the Trinity Episcopal Church, the 16-acre area is located in the center of town, just south of Yale University.
Open daily dawn - dusk.
Free.
