Old World Quality

If I didn't know I was in New Haven, I'd think I was in Italy. Great quality cuisine and even better service. A hidden gem in the New Haven restaurant scene.

I attended a private dinner party on the upper level. The low lighting made it difficult to read the menus so we grouped the tealight candles together. However, the ambience was intimate and warm and the service was flawless. A bowl of Prince Edward mussels were excellent, with a delicious broth to "soup up" with crusty bread. All of the entrees, whether pasta, meat or fish, I had difficulty deciding what to order. The hazelnut gelato was "off the charts"! I will be coming here again to try more of the scrumptious dishes, including the homeade pasta.

The Best Italian in New Haven

We had lunch at L'Orcio yesterday arriving at noon to find only one other couple seated in the beautiful courtyard. We chose the dining room since the weather was hot and humid. Our waitress delivered our menus and in short order we received warm crusty Italian bread and cold butter. We decided to share an arugula salad with thinly sliced parmesan. The arugula were slightly wilted and the dressing complimented the inherent peppery taste. We each chose the pollo saltimbocca, a daily special. The two chicken breasts were very thin cut, but managed to remain moist and were perfectly complimented by the prosciutto and spinach. Overall the meal could not have been much more perfect.
